  1. 劉備、關羽、張飛三人在桃園中結義為兄弟的故事。後指無血緣關係者結拜為兄弟。例 「他們桃園三結義，誓言同生共死」、「誰識桃園三結義，黃金不解結同心（明‧李贄〈過桃園謁三義祠詩〉）​」。
